The goal was to build a simple but effective website that acts as a 24/7 digital business card and portfolio—instantly showing credibility, craftsmanship, and contact options.
The challenge
No existing online portfolio – potential clients could not see past work before calling.
Difficulty explaining the full range of services (residential vs. industrial vs. custom art).
Need for a visually heavy site (lots of metalwork images) without slowing down load times.
The client (welder) is not tech-savvy – the site must be easy to update with new project photos.
No lead capture system – requests were disorganized across calls/texts.
The solution
I built a straightforward, image-focused website tailored to a trades professional:
Homepage with clear service categories – Gates, Railings, Structural Steel, Repairs, Custom Art.
Portfolio gallery – Organized by project type (e.g., "Residential Gates," "Industrial Welding," "Decorative Metal").
About section – Highlighting the welder's years of experience, attention to safety, and material quality.
Contact & Quote Request Form – Simple form capturing name, project type, and upload (or description) of the job.
Mobile-responsive design – Essential because many construction clients browse on phones.
Fast image loading – Lazy loading + compressed WebP images for heavy photo galleries.
Results
First-time digital presence – Client now has a link to send to potential customers immediately.
Increased lead quality – Quote requests come pre-informed by viewing the portfolio.
Time saved – No more repeatedly explaining services or sending scattered phone photos.
New project types – Client reported inquiries for custom art pieces (e.g., metal sculptures) that were never requested before.
